A faded restaurant menu from 1943; a memorial plaque with a mystery; a secret plan to feed those in hiding; and a grave mistake made in the hours before dawn…

These are just some of the elements of my newest historical novel, The Forgotten Italian Restaurant. And I’m so excited to be writing about it to you today – when the book is finally out in the world!

Early copies of the novel have been In the hands of bloggers and reviewers for a few weeks, and I’ve been so gratified by the reception. Here are a few of the lovely comments they’ve shared online:

It’s such an exciting moment for an author when a book finally releases…and yet, it’s also nerve wracking! The Forgotten Italian Island is my eighth book, and in some ways I’d say it’s my most personal story. I deeply related to my present-day protagonist, Callie, who—at thirty-two years old—is still trying to figure out who she is and where she fits in the world. And I also deeply related to Emilia—a young woman in 1943 who’s separated from her family and faced with an unthinkable choice as the Nazis approach.
